Thomas Klena

Thomas Klena is a seasoned automotive engineering leader with a proven track record in simulation, product development, and sustainability. After beginning his career in the defense industry, Tom had a successful career at TRW (now ZF), where he held various engineering and management roles, including an overseas assignment in Germany. Tom joined Continental in 2017.

At AUMOVIO, Tom has led the mechanical and simulation engineering departments for the Body and Security business unit. In his current role as manager of the Hardware Excellence group, he is focused on driving sustainability initiatives within the engineering organization as well as several others.

Tom’s expertise in simulation and process improvements has enabled him to develop innovative solutions that have accelerated product development and improved product performance. He has a passion for leveraging technology to create a more sustainable future of the automotive industry.

Additionally, Tom is an ASPICE Provisional Assessor, 4.0 and HW Extension certified. Tom is one of the regional ASPICE coaches as well as an internal trainer for ASPICE.

Tom has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan Dearborn and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Kettering University. He resides in Southeast Michigan with his family and currently volunteers with FIRST robotics and has an extensive model railroad collection.
